Featuring: Lozer Films Inc.

I met Jose “Lozer” Alfonseca at my launch party, our interaction was very minimal & at a professional level. He went to get the job done & it was done beyond my expectations. I knew that wouldn’t be the end of our encounters so I kept a close eye on his twitter account to see what Lozer Films was really about. (talk about a stalker)

We had the pleasure to be able to sit down & get to know each other over some margaritas & ceviche. It has by far been the most entertaining interview I’ve had as of a yet. A down to earth hilarious Dominican from the heights w/ his newly found downtown swag. A focused & determined young man who is ready to make his vision & dream a reality. Humble in every sense of the word, not wanting to admit that his accomplishments definitely must be recognized & acknowledged.

Here’s just a little of what this Lozer had to say. (off the record our convo was above & beyond this feature)

Where are you from & how has this influenced your craft?

I’m Dominican, born & raised in Washington heights 188th street. I just filmed a segment for someone in 181st & I capture the image of street vendors selling jeans, fruits & a hookah all in one table, I love Washington Heights for this very reason, you can capture so much in one image. Very proud of where I’m from.

Why did you brand yourself as Lozer Films Inc Photography?

Originally it was just suppose to be Lozer, a good friend Julian (Realfamm ENT.) kept calling me lozer films b/c I kept taking pictures, it kind of stuck with me. I wanted to branch out with Lozer & make it into many subdivisions. When I was growing up people always called me a lozer that I wouldn’t amount to anything. I wanted to turn it into something positive just like Pharell turned “nerd” into something cool & positive.

What do you think makes you different from other photographers?

I’m myself & I don’t try to be anyone else, if I see someone better than me I give them their props. I’m unique as you can tell from my brand name. I follow my own path & I don’t try to follow anyone else.  Where others see simplicity, I see creativity

What motivates you to do what you do?

To try to reach as much people as I can. I can’t say it’s for the money, to try to help someone else out, to have their vision become something concrete. People’s dream & goal be a reality. My photo shoots aren’t expensive, I offer the best service & comfort for my clients. They motivate me.

Where do you see your career going from here in the next few years?

I see it going many different directions. Producing more, instead of me being the only one filming, I want to be the person behind the production. Shooting documentaries, music videos, be an executive behind the scenes, maybe get my Friday nights back. Taking Lozer films to the next level & next chapter, building on what we already have.

What kind of photo sessions most interest you or you believe is your specialty?

Picture wise is outside photo shoots doesn’t matter with who. (Eccentric beauty) video wise I just started to do interviews & I enjoy hearing people’s stories & what they do through film.

Who or what influenced you to become a photographer?

I always loved taking pictures & never took it serious. My father actually had a professional camera & I started taking amazing shots. Lozer films started I was going through a break up & I started going clubbing a lot I was going to TBA & I took pictures with my camera & everyone loved my shots & made my pictures their default. My friend one day called me to fill in for a photographer (Julian RealFamm ENT.) & Nae (Sketchie ENT.) and after that everything just started to grow & fall into place.

In one short phrase describe your company’s vision & mission.

Catching memorable moments in one click, & are you a Lozer?

Jose also wanted to thank a few people for his success & growth – His family First & foremost, His Sister that always believed in his dream. Julian (RealFam Ent.), Nae (Sketchie Ent.), Ericka J (my Publicist), Leo, Alfredo, DJFlipStar, Djprostyle, MrBruCru. Big Thanks to Magic32.
