Featuring: Tatiana Owens

Meeting Tatiana Owens has definitely been a peak in my career thus far. I still remember hearing her song on VH1, Love & Hip Hop, I was quietly working on my computer & it was almost as if the whole world went quiet & “Pendulum” was playing loud & clear. I had to know who this person, singer, artist was. Luckily they posted who it was singing & I immediately looked her up on youtube. I was an instant fan! It was definitely an exciting moment to know I was going to meet the girl behind the amazing music.

Meeting Tatiana was a great experience, as we sat in Bill Grainer (Grammy Winner Song Writer who’s feature is coming soon) apartment. It was overall surreal, to be surrounded by such amazing talent & to see the innocence & genuine kindness all in one room. Tatiana is a young artist who is already taking huge strides to get her music & talent noticed. A huge voice & talent in one small girl. Making all the right moves to get the exposure necessary to strike big. On her grind & with an amazing team to support her Tatiana is on a rapid rise to the top.

Here’s a little more on the star Tatiana Owens!

Where are you from & how has this impacted your dream?
I am from Toledo, Ohio. Being from a “small” city. Definitely impacted my dream. I went to an art school this advanced my art as singer, performer, song writer. It was a big theater community. It definitely opened my eyes to this lifestyle.

What projects & strategies have you used for exposure on your talent?
It took place in an agency in Toledo, Ohio. They had Katey Holmes and a lot of other big names. I did a talent show, there was a judge at the show (I didn’t win) I was 9 years old, she came up to me & offered me a full scholarship to her school. I went to the school there & went to IMT conventions in which I got snatched up by management. I went to California, and got a lot of “she’s too young to be marketed”, “such a big voice but a small body”. I went to NYC, I was an awkward pre-teen. I went out one more time, one of the executive of the convention she mentioned my manager today, I was performing at a small club, I sang a variety of songs. He was amazed, from then on they have been working together. I would fly in & out to the city during high school and once I was done I moved here to NYC.

How do you separate yourself from other artists?
I am different & unique,. It’s Poppy but then its R&B & soul. It’s a mixture of things, what separates me is my voice. I venture off in a different genre. I keep my music diverse. Pendulum- was far left of what I was thinking, wasn’t sure if I wanted it to define who I am. Hazey- as heard in “what chili wants”- it has more soul in it, it’s a ballad. Both slow songs, I wanted to show her pop side. “Club music”-which will be featured Showtimes “The L Word” is a different style of music as well.

Who do you want to work with in the future?
SO many people, I would love to work with Alicia Keys, even if not a duet, I would love for her to write a song with me & play. She is a great song writer & a creative mind. So many people wow.Jesse Jay to write a song for me. It will pop up later I’m sure, so many artists I look up to that I would love to work with, to many to list.

What other talents do you have besides an amazing voice?
I’m a songwriter, a lot of people are singers but don’t ever write a song & I can dance, I love musical theater I’m a stage performer. It has been one of my biggest & strongest suits. I love performing that to people, acting. Not completely talented in the piano but I do play.

Where do you see your career in the next 2-3 years?
UP!! One of those things you never really know, so many things can happen, so many opportunities, where do I plan for it to go, release an album that is backed up by a big record label. I wish I can write a big hit with Bill Grainer

What message do you have for your audience, something you think they should know about you?
I have so many messages, a lot of my music comes from who I am as a person & stories, were either about me, or dealing with people in my life. Pendulum & hazy were one of them. In club Music, it’s that fun side of me. It’s different I am diverse in my music b/c im a diverse person. My music
goes everywhere; there are messages in the music that people can take from. I get tons of email from people who my music affects their emotions; people can take from my music and learn from it. I don’t want to write pointless music, I don’t want to sing pointless songs people won’t care about 5 years from now.

There you have it folks, yet another huge artist on the rise, if you didn’t know, now ElizTalks made sure you do now :)
